Escapade holidays
Exploring the 9 French rivers (10 days; white water rafting)
Go on 9 rivers during 10 days
![]() Starting off in the Chamonix valley and ending up in the Ubaye Valley, we have mapped out an itinerary along 9 great river classics. Our professional river guides will take you along in their minibus to drop you at the best white water rafting spots in the Alpine valleys. We’ll start paddling in the Northern Alps on the river “Giffre” and through the “Tine Gorges”. This part of the trip will be a perfect warm up for what’s to come: The river “Dranse” one of Europe’s most beautiful rivers and certainly a raft classic. Next, we’ll venture into the direction of the “Tarentaise” valley. We’ll stay in the area, known as the Mecca of French rafting, for the next two days in order to explore every aspect of its rivers. Two days of pure paddling pleasure awaits you on the streams of the “Doron of Bozel” river and the “Isere” river. This is where we will meet the rapids of the “Dora Baltea” , an Italian rafting classic (not far from Bourg Saint Maurice) which cannot be missed on this trip. These white water runs are reminiscent of the American “Colorado” river and as such an amazing challenge, especially the class IV section. The scenery is stunning with the Mont Blanc mountain range on the background. The next stage of our journey takes us back to the aquatic life in France towards “Chateau Queyras”. Here, we’ll paddle first on the “Guisanne” river and cross the Briancon country side.More white water entertainment is waiting for you on the river “Guil” (near Guillestre). This rivers turbulent and sinuous stream marks it way through the canyons. You’ll never forget the magnificent scenery of this part of the world. Last but not least, the “ Ubaye” race course, with its famous rapids (La Cuisine, la Dent de Requin, le Rouleau de Printemps …), offer a final rafting-excursion in this southern part of the Alps. No less than 7 valleys, 9 rivers and many hours of paddling in 10 days! This is what we call a dynamic way to explore the Alps. Level of difficulty: open to any level. Note: Rafting is open to everyone. Nevertheless, having practised rafting before is recomended. Participants should be in great form: running, cycling, swimming are good activities to get ready for the trip.Participants must be good swimmers and mustn’t be afraid of being under the water to enjoy white water activities.
