TOUR DESCRIPTION

The Tamur River is located in eastern Nepal, far from the major tourist routes of the Himalayas and Annapurna regions.

This river is a classic and certainly the best combination of trekking and rafting to be found in Nepal. The Tamur originates at the foot of Kachenjunga, the 3rd highest mountain in the world, and flows through an unspoilt valley.

After a day of acclimatization in Kathmandu, a city of crafts and culture, a domestic flight, followed by a bus ride, takes us to Basantapur, the start of the trek.
After packing our bags, we set off for a 4 day trek through the Milke Danda mountain range: our route, oscillating between 2,500 and 3,000 m altitude, offers us beautiful views of Makalu, Everest and Kachenjunga, nights in bivouacs, crossings of picturesque villages and brings us to Dobhan, base camp at the start of the Tamur.
After a deserved bath in the river, we prepare the equipment: inflate the rafts, load all the necessary material for the 6 days of complete autonomy that await us on the river.
The next day, it’s off for 6 days of navigation on this world class river! 6 days in complete autonomy, bivouacking on the river bank, 6 days of sharing and total immersion, far from the fury of the modern world. 6 days to find the very essence of rafting, this formidable machine of travel and exploration!
Then back to Kathmandu for a final day of sightseeing and shopping before the flight home.

This trip is accessible to most people. However, it is recommended to have a good general physical condition, to have already practiced the activities “RAFTING and TREKKING” and to enjoy outdoor living.
This trip is organised in partnership with Totem Aventure, a specialist in RAFTING trips in Nepal for over 20 years.
For this trip, except when we are present in Kathmandu, the accommodation is in bivouac. Meals are prepared by the team of Nepalese guides who take care of the logistics during the whole trek and the RAFTING descent.
We remain at your disposal for any information concerning the preparation, the necessary equipment and other details concerning this stay.

For more information, ask for our technical sheet.

To practice rafting, it is mandatory to know how to swim.
